Welcome to Dr. Vikas Gupta’s Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery (HUES) website. This is probably first of its kind department in the country where a dedicated team treats ailments of the upper extremity. Dr. Vikas Gupta has more than 6,000 successful hand upper extremity surgeries to his credit. He has been a pioneer in this field and many of the procedures were introduced by him in India.
All kinds of shoulder disorders are treated by Dr. Vikas Gupta. Following are a few broad groups we have divided shoulder disorders
Complex shoulder trauma: this includes fractures of/around the shoulder. Fractures could be associated with dislocation or complex fractures with multiple fragments. These fractures are treated with the latest techniques and new generation implants (plates and screws). If the fracture is not fixable (reconstructable) then replacement has to be done.
Shoulder arthroscopy: Minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery of the shoulder where surgery is done through the small {5-7 mm} incision. Shoulder arthroscopy procedure is performed for arthroscopic subacromial decompression, arthroscopic capsular release, Bankart’s repair, rotator cuff repair, etc.
Shoulder replacement: Shoulder replacement is a commonly done the procedure at hand2shoulder clinic. Basically, there are four types of shoulder replacement hemiarthroplasty, surface replacement, total shoulder arthroplasty, and reverse shoulder arthroplasty. Hemiarthroplasty is usually done when proximal humerus including the humeral head is badly broken and cannot be fixed especially in the elderly population. Surface replacement is done primarily when pathology is restricted to the humeral head. Total shoulder arthroplasty is when the whole joint is arthritic. Reverse shoulder replacement is done in cases where there is massive irreparable rotator cuff tear.
Newer modalities like stem cell therapy/platelet rich plasma for conditions like rotator cuff tendinopathies and partial tears
Advanced rehabilitation therapy each surgery is complimented by advanced rehabilitation by our rehabilitation team. We use continuous passive motion devices, functional manual therapy with contemporary rehabilitation protocols which results in best outcomes after surgery.
