Reflecting on the 47th Annual Conference of the Indian Society for Surgery of the Hand

As a hand surgeon, attending the 47th annual conference of the Indian Society for Surgery of the Hand was an incredibly rewarding and enriching experience. The conference, held in Bangalore from October 4-6, 2024, brought together some of the most talented and innovative surgeons in the field, and I was honored to be a part of it.

One of the highlights for me was the opportunity to demonstrate the volar approach for PIP joint replacement on a cadaver. This surgical technique has been an area of focus for me, as it offers potential advantages over traditional approaches in terms of exposure, visualization, and patient outcomes. Being able to share my expertise and techniques with my peers was both humbling and exhilarating.

In addition to the practical demonstration, I also had the privilege of delivering a lecture on the management of terrible triad injuries of the elbow and recent advances in this area. Terrible triad injuries, which involve a complex combination of elbow dislocation and fractures of the radial head and coronoid process, can be challenging to treat, and I was glad to have the opportunity to discuss the latest research and treatment strategies with my colleagues.

The conference was not just about presenting our own work, but also about learning from the experiences and insights of others. I had the chance to attend numerous sessions and workshops, where I gained valuable knowledge and perspectives from experts in the field. It was a true testament to the collaborative spirit of the hand surgery community, as we all strive to provide the best possible care for our patients.

Overall, the 47th annual conference of the Indian Society for Surgery of the Hand was a truly remarkable event. It reminded me of the importance of continued learning, innovation, and teamwork in our field. As I reflect on my experiences, I am filled with a renewed sense of passion and commitment to advancing the practice of hand surgery and improving the lives of those we serve.
